One of the most exclusive events of the year, the Met Gala, is set to start today. This year it is held on May 5, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City, USA. This year’s theme is titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

However, at the prestigious and star-studded event, one particular person is banned. It is none other than the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. The event is not just for actors, singers, fashionistas, and influencers; the Met Gala is the stage that brings together a variety of people, from creative trailblazers to cultural icons, who contribute to the landscape of glamour and style. Even the guest list is one of the highlights of the event itself.

Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, has reportedly banned one high-profile individual from the Met Gala: Donald Trump. According to Anna Wintour, Trump had attended the Met Gala from 2004 to 2012 but is no longer welcome, making him the only celebrity she has publicly stated as being banned.

In 2017, in an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Anna Wintour was asked, “Who would you never invite back to the Met Gala?” by James. Wintour replied, “Donald Trump.” The audience cheered. James replied, “That is a great answer.” Previously, Trump and Melania were regulars at the event, considering the president even proposed to the First Lady at the event.

In fact, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter, hasn’t walked the Met Gala red carpet since 2016. This absence is notable, especially considering Anna Wintour’s statement in 2017 that she wouldn’t invite Trump back to the event. While there’s no official confirmation, it’s speculated that the Trump family might be persona non grata at the Met Gala.

Lili Reinhart, known for her role in Riverdale, sparked controversy after speaking out against Kim Kardashian’s extreme dieting to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Met Gala gown in 2022. Reinhart’s comments might have led to her absence from the event in subsequent years, fueling speculation that she’s been unofficially blacklisted by Anna Wintour. In an interview with W magazine, she said, “I don’t think I’ll be invited back, I said a certain something about a certain person in a certain dress.”
